How Thick is GRP Roofing?

GRP roofing comes in slightly different thicknesses a standard 450g/m roof laminate installed onto OSB 3 18mm T+ G boards is rated (approx.) 13.3 kg/m² (OSB 18mm T + G 11kg/m²) weather tightness (excerpts from BBA Certificate). The system is impervious to water and the system can allow for minor structural movements without the risk of damage to the system.

Typical Test Units Show

  Method Mean Result
Bar Col Hardness BS2782 35
Glass/ Resin Ratio BS2782 3.5:9
Apparent density ISO 1183 1360
Thickness(mm) Dial Gauge 1.75
*Typical Topseal Roof Tests

If a 600g matting is applied a thickness of resin is applied as the ratio of roof coverage increases due to the thicker matting.

The GRP is very lightweight for its thickness and exceeding strong for the thickness.

With 30-40-year systems the thickness of the resin CSM/ resin increases with layers this will double in thickness adding to its durability.

With all the tests carried out by BBA tests the GRP systems are highly durable.
